The ongoing adventures of a D.C. transplant living in L.A. experimenting with public acts of narcissism

Unproductive

lazy

I have no clue what happened to me today, but for the life of me I just couldn’t concentrate on anything. The more I’d try to focus, the more resistant I became. This really pisses me off as the list of things I have to do before I can start freelancing is piling up and I sat around idle today NOT doing it. So annoying. I have to work harder than that.

What do any of you who might be perusing this site do when you hit a wall, or find yourself being a little too slack in your work?

  2. Yeah. I’m finding that the hardest part for me is getting the ball rolling. Once I start, it’s hard to stop (that’s what she said). It’s all just a question of forcing myself to begin.

  3. I usually set a certain time to start and stop. Once I get on a roll, I’ll work beyond my set stop time, but if i know that I only have a set amount of time, it keeps me focused in the beginning.

Also, I either have to go to my home “office” or leave the house. If there are other distractions, the procrastinator in me takes over, and the house will be re-organized and spot-less before I start on work. (I don’t know how much that helps you if you don’t have a lap top though). :)

    Good luck to ya!

  4. I’m going to give that a shot. Seems like a strong idea. That’s always been my prob. Getting started. Once I do, then I can go forever (that’s what she said). Thanks Shanelle!
